We are investing in a new modern student standard
The project “Energy-efficient rehabilitation of student dormitories in North Macedonia” refers to the promotion of energy-efficient reconstruction and modernization of selected public buildings in the education sector, i.e. state-owned student dormitories, specifically to increase energy efficiency, structural integrity and basic comfort in the homes.
The project is implemented by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of North Macedonia through support of 20 million euros and a 5 million euro grant through the WBIF Regional Energy Efficiency Program for the Western Balkans (REEP+) of the European Union.
The renovation of student dormitories includes necessary improvements to the structure of the facilities, investments to improve living and learning conditions, that is, overall improvement of comfort in the facilities, as well as investments to improve the overall energy efficiency of the facilities.
The main goal of this project is to contribute to climate change protection activities by reducing CO2 emissions and improving the standard of living of students. The project includes staged reconstruction of nine state student dormitories in Skopje, Prilep, Bitola, Shtip and Ohrid.
Student dormitories will get improved sustainability and energy efficiency, which will contribute to a cleaner environment and financial savings, while students will get better conditions for learning and living.
According to the determined dynamics, the reconstruction of the student dormitories within the project will take place in three phases, and the overall implementation of the project is expected to be completed within 44 months.
