Nine student dormitories in the country will get a completely new face, and students will have better conditions for studying and living.
“Energy efficient rehabilitation of student dormitories in North Macedonia” by the Ministry of Education and Science of North Macedonia, funded by the KfW German Development Bank with a support of 20 million euros and a 5 million euro grant through the Western Balkans Regional Energy Efficiency Program (REEP+) of the European Union.

Student dormitories where comfort is a priority

Through a holistic approach, the reconstruction will enhance the sustainability and energy efficiency of the student dormitories, contributing to a cleaner environment and financial savings, while simultaneously increasing comfort and improving the overall living experience for students.

Changing the plumbing installation in the homes and removing the causes of moisture in the buildings with new modern systems that guarantee a sustainable water supply for the students.

 

Change of the complete electrical installation and the replacement of electrical equipment with the installation of energy-efficient LED lamps, change of the heating installation with new energy-efficient systems.

Complete change of sanitary facilities and sanitation in facilities with new solutions that will increase hygiene and reduce water consumption and operating costs in homes.

Production of energy-efficient facades of buildings that integrates energy-efficient materials and insulation and installation of photovoltaic systems for electricity production.

 

Renovation of the common study rooms and improvement of the learning environment, in order to increase the comfort, raise the safety of the students and protect the environment.

Construction activities are starting within the project “Energy efficient rehabilitation of student dormitories in the Republic of North Macedonia”

In an effort to help strengthen the educational infrastructure and raise the student experience in the country, the European Union in cooperation with KFW and the WBIF program for the Western Balkans is proudly launching the project “Energy efficient rehabilitation of student dormitories in North Macedonia”. The project covers the reconstruction of nine state student dormitories in several cities in North Macedonia. In the first phase, the “Kuzman Josifovski Pitu” and “Steve Naumov” dormitories in Skopje will be reconstructed, then in the second phase, the reconstruction of the “Tome Stefanovski-Senic” dormitories will be planned. in Skopje, “Nikola Karev” in Ohrid, “Brača Miladinovci” in Shtip and “National hero Orde Chopela” in Prilep. The third phase will include the homes “Kocho Racin” in Bitola, “Pelagonija” in Skopje, as well as the canteen of “Goce Delchev” in Skopje.

The project “Energy efficient rehabilitation of student dormitories in North Macedonia” is implemented by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of North Macedonia through the support of 20 million euros and a 5 million euro grant through the WBIF Regional Energy Efficiency Program for the Western Balkans (REEP+) of the European Union.

The principle of the reconstruction is holistic, and includes initially changing the plumbing installation in the homes and removing the causes of moisture in the buildings, changing the complete electrical installation and replacing the electrical equipment with the installation of energy-efficient LED lamps, changing the heating installation, complete change of the sanitary facilities and sanitation, production of energy-efficient facades of the buildings and installation of photovoltaics for the production of electricity. The project includes renovating the common rooms for learning and improving the learning environment, increasing the safety of students and protecting the environment.

According to the determined dynamics, the reconstruction of the student dormitories within the project will take place in three phases, and the overall implementation of the project is expected to be completed within 44 months. In the first phase, the project begins with the reconstruction of the student dormitories “Kuzman Josifovski Pitu” and “Steve Naumov” in Skopje, and their reconstruction is scheduled to last 18 months.
